Gaza’s healthcare system has been devastated by ongoing conflict, leaving hospitals overwhelmed, under supplied, and struggling to treat the injured and critically ill. Thousands of civilians, including children, are unable to access lifesaving medical care due to damaged facilities, shortages of equipment, and limited specialized treatment. Through our Gaza Medical Relief initiative, Scholars Without Borders is working on the ground to expand emergency care, support hospitals with critical supplies, and coordinate medical evacuations for patients who require specialized treatment unavailable locally. Central to this effort is the construction of a 250 bed field hospital near Nasser Medical Complex, designed to provide urgent trauma care, surgical services, and lifesaving treatment to patients who would otherwise go without care.
