GLOBAL ORPHAN CARE

Urgent Help Needed

Globally, around 153 million children are orphaned, according to UNICEF. Many face exploitation and rely on donations for survival and safety. About 8 million children live in orphanages, though not all are orphans.

An orphan is a child who has lost their father or both parents, often facing an uncertain and vulnerable future. In disadvantaged areas, children may be placed in orphanages if their widowed mothers can’t meet basic needs, hoping they’ll receive food, clothing, and education. Unfortunately, many orphanages are overcrowded and lack sufficient resources.

Our impact

Through our OrphanCare program, Scholars Without Borders supports orphaned children around the world by aiding orphanages that lack the resources they need to provide proper care. By partnering with these orphanages, we help them support more children and make a significant impact on their lives.

We partner with local organizations to ensure children receive the following as part of our support:

  • Education enrollment
  • Food security
  • Medical care
  • Shelter
  • Clothing and other basic necessities
