Scholars Without Borders installed a solar energy system at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. The system runs on 8 photovoltaic panels, a 6KW inverter and a 5.12 kWh battery. It reached 10,000 people, including students, staff and technical personnel. Work ran from February 1 to February 12, 2026.
Engineers fit the system to limited rooftop space and connected it safely to the university's existing electrical network. Suppliers were coordinated locally to secure components despite import restrictions. The project cost $40,000 and now reduces reliance on generators and fuel costs during Gaza's electricity crisis.
Students and staff at Al-Azhar University can now keep learning and working without constant power interruptions, made possible by the generosity of our donors.
