Scholars Without Borders installed a solar energy system at Islamic University in Gaza. The system includes 8 photovoltaic panels, an 8.6KW inverter, a 5.12kWh battery and a steel support structure. It now powers educational facilities for 10,000 students, faculty and staff. The work ran from February 7 to February 17, 2026, over 10 days.
Engineers designed the layout to make the most of limited rooftop space and connected the new system safely to the university's existing electrical network. Teams coordinated with local suppliers to secure components despite import restrictions and rising equipment costs. The system reduces reliance on generators, cutting fuel and operating costs while keeping classrooms and labs running through the electricity crisis.
