Restoring University Facilities for 10,000

February 2026

Scholars Without Borders completed restoration and maintenance work at Al-Azhar University in North Gaza. The 14-day project repaired classrooms and shared facilities used by 10,000 students each day. Crews fixed cracked walls and ceilings, repainted interiors and exteriors, and repaired floors, doors and windows. Iron doors and aluminum windows were installed where needed.

Water networks were repaired and damaged sanitary fixtures were replaced. Leaks were addressed and drainage lines were rehabilitated, with new aluminum doors installed for restrooms. Ventilation and lighting were improved in lecture halls and offices, and general safety upgrades were carried out across the facilities. The Projects and Programs Department supervised the work and confirmed it met technical specifications before handover.

This work was made possible by the generosity of our donors.
